Food Review: Lightlife Smart Ground Original

December 9, 2010

I’ve tried a couple other brands version of this take off of ground beef, and had a hard time dealing with the texture and toughness of the ground. Again, Lightlife hits the mark as far as texture and taste go.

Lightlife’s Smart Ground Original is a great alternative to ground beef. So far I’ve used it in tacos, in a sauce for pasta and a couple other meals where it would normally call for the ground beef.

The problem I’ve had in the past with other brands is the rubbery feel the ground had. Lightlife’s version is not only better texture and taste wise, but it is not chewy and rubbery, as a matter of fact it’s pretty darned close to the real deal.

Lightlife’s pricing model is pretty decent as well. My only complaint about going vegetarian is the fact most items cost more than their meat counterpart. Lightlife’s pricing makes it possible to enjoy the things I’m used to without breaking the bank.
